How much does solar cost?

The cost to install a solar module system is based on the following factors: current utility consumption; desired offset goals; production from modules; quality of the equipment; and the size of the system. Are there additional costs involved with going solar?

At Selenium Solar Energy, there is NO additional service cost as a system owner. All equipment is warranted, and the cost for future service calls of your system is covered by our ‘service rider’ agreement. For a nominal monthly cost, this optional add-on coverage, gives you complete “piece-of-mind,” against any unknown, future equipment-related issues.”

How does solar work?

The simplest definition is the following: The sun energizes solar cells within the solar panel to generated and produce a direct current (DC). That DC current then runs from the panels to an inverter, the inverter converts the current to alternating current (AC), producing power for your electric appliances in your home.

Do solar panels cause roof leaks?

It is important to choose a solar company that utilizes NABCEP certified photovoltaic (PV) installation professionals. Typically you should experience a 50% savings or more. Your return on investment (ROI), will help offset your installation cost, and continue thereafter, for the life of the system.

How long does the solar installation process take?

Solar installations typically take 3-7 days of physical time. However, additional time is needed for the interconnection process, permitting, and AHJ inspections and approvals. Please allow additional time for rainy days and inclement weather delays. Remember, all of our team members are OSHA certified.

Are there any incentives available to go solar?

A taxpayer may claim a credit for a system that serves a dwelling unit located in the United States that is owned and used as a residence by the taxpayer. Expenditures with respect to the equipment are treated as made when the installation is completed. If the installation is at a new home, the “placed in service” date is the date of occupancy by the homeowner. Expenditures include labor costs for on-site preparation, assembly or original system installation, and for piping or wiring to interconnect a system to the home. If the federal tax credit exceeds tax liability, the excess amount may be carried forward to the succeeding taxable year. The maximum allowable credit, equipment requirements, and other details vary by technology, as outlined below.
